Description

Uramet Minerals Limited is an ASX listed exploration company targeting base metals, phosphate and uranium in Central Australia.

Uramet´s tenements cover 5,061 km2 (square kilometres) of which 4,754 km2 are in the Northern Territory, the remaining 307 km2 in Queensland.

The Company raised $7 million in its initial public offering and commenced trading on the ASX on 19 June 2007.

Since then, several major programs have been completed, including reconnaissance drilling for uranium; major geophysics surveys (gravity, IP and VTEM) and drilling for base metals; and mapping, sampling and drilling for phosphate.

At the Box Hole lead-zinc project, promising RAB and RC drill targets were selected from the results of Uramet’s exploration work, including geophysics, detailed mapping, sampling, and soil geochemistry. A program of RAB drilling was completed in July 2008 and initial evaluation of results suggests deeper drilling is warranted.

Uramet´s tenements and expertise are focussed on the Georgina Basin, which hosts most of Australia´s major phosphate deposits (and which is very prospective for base metals as well). High phosphate grades encountered in outcrops on Uramet´s tenements in the Marqua Project area were followed up in 2008 by mapping and sampling programs targeting phosphate/uranium. A drilling program was completed at Marqua in September 2008.

Projects

Phosphate

Uramet is exploring deposits of high grade phosphate rock on its Marqua tenement area in NT and its Barr Creek tenement area in Qld. Both these areas contain Cambrian rocks at the margins of the Palaeozoic Georgina Basin, host to most of mainland Australia’s known rock phosphate resources.

Base Metals

The Box Hole lead/zinc project is located in the NT. Uramet completed a shallow RAB drilling program in early July 2008.

The Marqua and Mt Skinner areas are considered prospective for copper, lead and zinc.
