Description
Pancontinental Oil & Gas (ASX: PCL) is a petroleum (oil and gas) exploration company based in Perth, Western Australia. With a focus on Australia, Africa and the Mediterranean, it has excellent exposure to a range of high- potential oil and gas targets. High levels of project equity, plus Pancontinental's small market cap means that the company is very well leveraged in the event of exploration success.
Western Australia Project
Western Australia is one of the most productive and diversified mineral and petroleum regions in the world. Petroleum prospectivity has been demonstrated both onshore and offshore. Low sovereign risk and the fiscal and legislative regime along with noted successes in offshore exploration make the state an attractive exploration focus. The offshore northwest is currently Australia's most prolific oil and gas producing province. It has significant oil and gas infrastructure which facilitates rapid development and its offshore drilling and development costs are amongst the lowest in Australia. High quality acreage is available in water depths suitable for the use of lower cost drilling rigs and proven development technology. High quality historic seismic and well data is available which lowers costs and risk and technical and management staff with many years of first-hand experience, shortens the exploration cycle.
Kenya Project
Kenya is an attractive country for oil and gas exploration and as a key energy consumer. A demonstrated interest in the area by several international companies indicates that there is potential for finding major reserves. The country currently has no indigenous oil or gas production. Kenya is keen to reduce its own energy imports by converting its oil-fired electricity generators to indigenous clean gas. Its proximity to the expanding energy markets of East Africa and the Asian sub-continent mean there are additional markets available for immediate product uptake.
Malta Project
Malta has an extensive marine area neighbouring the oil provinces of offshore Libya and Tunisia, and within the same geological province. The country has a record of political and investment stability and is a member of the EU. The country does not yet have any indigenous oil or gas reserves.
Morocco Project
Morocco has a substantial infrastructure to support an active oil and gas exploration and production industry. Major seaports, roadways, airports, pipelines and refineries are near large cities endowed with suitable amenities. Morocco has a stable economy and political and regulatory regime, and encourages participation by foreign investors.
Namibia Project
Namibia is under-explored with seven onshore and eleven offshore wells. Offshore Namibia contains the significant Kudu gas discovery which demonstrates the presence of an active petroleum system. The country has an encouraging oil and gas regime and is economically and politically stable.
