Northern Minerals is an established Australian exploration company primarily focussed on Uranium and Rare Earth exploration and development in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
The company holds a strategic land position in the Gardiner Tanami with 10,600sqm of land tenure. Geologically, the Gardiner-Tanami Project area compares favourably with both the Alligator Rivers region in the Northern Territory and the Athabasca Basin in Canada, the latter being host to the world’s highest-grade unconformity-related uranium deposits. Worldwide, similarly prospective areas for this type of uranium deposit are rare.
In February 2007, Northern Minerals announced the formation of a strategic alliance with the French nuclear group, Areva NC, via its wholly owned subsidiaries, Areva NC Australia Pty Ltd (Areva) and Afmeco Mining and Exploration Pty Ltd (Afmex). Under the terms of the agreement, Afmex has become the operator of uranium exploration and development of the Gardiner-Tanami Project (including Denison Range). Areva will also market any uranium produced by Northern Minerals.
The company has also developed a portfolio of early stage Heavy Rare Earth Element (HREE) projects which it believes represent an exciting avenue for additional value. The company’s interest in HREE has been supported by the high value nature of its discoveries, and the strong market environment for the HREE product suite it has identified.
The company has a strategic phosphate land package in the Georgina and Amadeus Basins in the Northern Territory.
Northern Minerals’s board and management have extensive experience in exploration, project development, mining operations and public company administration.
