Description

New Hope is an independent, energy company which has open cut mines at Acland on the Darling Downs, and at Rosewood near Ipswich. The company focuses on niche marketing of its thermal coal and exports around 65 per cent of coal production to Asia Pacific markets including Japan, Korea and Chile with the remainder being consumed by customers in south-east Queensland.

The company also holds various exploration tenements in central Queensland and on the Darling Downs in southern Queensland. New Hope’s investments include a 100 per cent shareholding in Queensland Bulk Handling, a common user coal export terminal at the Port of Brisbane, and significant land holdings around Ipswich and near its mining operations at Acland.

New Hope attributes its growth to innovation, hands-on management, and environmental and social responsibility. Strong and dynamic relationships with partners are another strength.

With its head office in Ipswich, New Hope manages each step in the coal chain of production, from exploring and mining the mineral, through to delivering it to customers.

Coal Operations

New Hope's competitive advantages include vertical integration and control of each step in the coal chain from exploration and mining of coal through to delivery to customers. The Group produces thermal coal from its New Acland, Jeebropilly and New Oakleigh mines in South East Queensland. Innovation, dedicated hands-on management, environmental and social responsibility have significantly contributed to New Hope's growth. We are also committed to building strong and dynamic relationships with our business partners.

New Hope's current coal operations in Queensland comprise three open cut mines in the Clarence Moreton Basin of Southern Queensland supplying a wide range of domestic and export customers.

Coal Exploration

New Hope has a strongly developed exploration program with projects in South East and Central Queensland.

New Hope's objective is to increase its Australian production through existing resources development, new resource exploration and acquisitions. To achieve this goal the company has extensive exploration projects in both South East and Central Queensland.

In the Darling Downs project areas, the target is Walloon Coal Measures for open cut mining of steaming coal for export and local consumption, similar to the coals currently mined at the New Acland, New Oakleigh and Jeebropilly mines.

The Central Queensland project areas are targeting areas with a potential to host resources of coking, thermal, and PCI coal that could be developed for the export market.
