Morning Star Gold (ASX: MCO) - We are a gold producer with extensive mining & exploration tenements in Australia's 2nd ranked hardrock historic goldfield (by production), which lies 120kms northeast of Australia's second largest city Melbourne.
Our tenements host multiple high grade gold production ore bodies mined only to shallow depths. Historic production in the goldfield is over 155 tonnes of gold with average production grades close to an ounce of gold per tonne. Gold in the Woods Point Goldfield is contained in mafic and gabbroic 'dyke' hosted deposits most often in repetitive quartz reef structures.
Morning Star Gold has rebuilt its 100% owned namesake 'Morning Star Gold Mine' targeting 2011 gold production. The Morning Star mine was at one point in the early 1940s Australia's premier gold mine run by Gold Mines of Australia (WMC Ltd). The Morning Star mine produced 883,000ozs of gold at 25g/t over 100 years until 1962.
2011 represents 150 Years since gold was discovered in the Victorian ranges at Woods Point, the town which is home to the Morning Star Goldmine.
