Description
Mirabela Nickel Ltd. is a nickel focused explorer, developer and producer. Its primary asset is the large Santa Rita operation in Bahia, Brazil, which the Company discovered in late 2004 and has developed in less than five years. At full production capacity, Santa Rita is expected to produce about 26,000 tonnes of nickel in concentrate annually.
Exploration has delineated over 1.4Mt of contained nickel from open-pit and underground resources. There is potential to extend the open-pit resource beneath the northern zone and the underground resource remains open along strike and at depth. Studies to develop the underground resource are underway, as feed from underground sources could potentially double output from the Santa Rita plant. Drilling to extend open-cut and underground resources is expected to recommence in 2011.
The Company is led by a team of experienced resource executives with a track record of successfully identifying and developing world scale projects. The Board has particular experience in the development of resources projects in Brazil and in the development of nickel sulphide projects.
Mirabela successfully secured all funding requirements for the Santa Rita project in 2009, despite difficult market conditions at the time.
Mirabela was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2004 (ASX:MBN) and the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2007 (TSX:MNB).
