Description

FerrAus Limited is an emerging developer of iron ore in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia.

As an emerging developer, it has a wholly owned, strategic foothold in an under-explored, highly prospective iron ore location in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, encompassing more than 540 square kilometres.

Within this strategic holding the Company is fast tracking development of the FerrAus Pilbara Project, consisting of the Robertson Range Area and the Davidson Creek Area, which currently has a total iron ore resource of 331 million tonnes.

The company currently owns another exploration project in Western Australia - the Enachedong Project (manganese) located in the East Pilbara near the operating Woodie Woodie Mine.

Robertson Range, Iron Ore

The Robertson Range Area ( E52/1630, M52/1034) is located 100km south east of Newman in the south east Pilbara region of Western Australia.

It is about 50km southeast of BHP Billiton’s mining operations at Jimblebar, located at the end of BHP Billiton’s iron ore railway.

Rio Tinto explored the area between 1999 and 2001 and identified iron mineralisation over approximately 1km strike length.

In February 2002, Rio Tinto reported a conceptual in situ geological target of 20 million tonnes of iron ore grading 62.4% Fe and 0.11% P.

Since October 2005, FerrAus has maintained a systematic and continuous drilling and exploration program.

In June 2007, FerrAus installed a permanent, cyclone-rated camp at Roberston Range to facilitate ongoing exploration and development drilling as well as all other activities related to bringing this project to operational status including environmental and hydrological studies.

The Davidson Creek Area is located northwest of Robertson Range and 30 kilometres east of BHP Billiton’s mining operations at Jimblebar. During 1999 – 2001, Rio Tinto conducted geological mapping, surface sampling, RC percussion drilling and airborne and ground based geophysical surveys.

This work identified approximately 15 kilometres strike length of Marra Mamba Formation within the tenement including several outcrop areas of iron mineralisation. Widely spaced drill holes located low grade mineralised Marra Mamba Formation and the tenement remains highly prospective for further deposits of iron ore close to surface.

Brockman Iron Formation, host to BHP Billiton’s Mt Whaleback Deposits, is interpreted to occur within the tenement.

Exploration and other related activities is aimed at increasing the size of the resource at the Robertson Range, Davidson Creek and Murramunda Areas.

Manganese - Enachedong - E46/614

This tenement of 205km2 is prospective for manganese mineralisation and lies about 60 kilometres south of Consolidated Mineral’s Woodie Woodie manganese operations in the Balfour Downs area.

The tenement is adjacent to the manganese occurrence at Enachedong Water Hole, where previous exploration identified an area of outcropping manganese about 300 metres by 100 metres in size.
