Description
Bondi Mining’s principal exploration focus is the discovery of high grade, cycle proof uranium deposits. In addition the company is advancing the phosphate potential of its Northern Territory Murphy tenement. In 2008 the highest priority project, Murphy Uranium in the Northern Territory, has advanced from the ‘grass roots’ stage and is turning into a new uranium district with recent drill success.
Murphy Project
The Murphy project is located 1000 kilometres from Darwin and 700 kilometres from the town of Mount Isa (Fig 1). Sealed road reaches within 80 kilometres of the property, and the remainder of access is by good gravel roads and station tracks. The project consists of 8 granted tenements covering 9,056 square kilometres. The project is owned 100% by Bondi Mining Ltd. The core tenements of the Murphy project were initially acquired in mid-2005 by Global Discovery Pty Ltd (a private company). The tenements were subsequently acquired by Buffalo Gold Ltd (a TSX venture-listed exploration company) through an option deal announced in March of 2006. Bondi Mining Ltd acquired the project in May of 2007 as part of a deal to acquire 100% of Buffalo Gold’s Uranium portfolio.
Juntala Project
The Juntala project occurs in an area where Lower Proterozoic Einasleigh Metamorphics are intruded by uranium-enriched Carboniferous granites. At the southern end of the area this package is overlain in turn by Jurassic sandstones. The Carboniferous granites are a clear potential source of uranium, and there are potential traps in both the reduced metasediments of the Einasleigh Metamorphics and in the overlying Jurassic sandstones. Both of these potential plays are to be evaluated with further exploration.
Mt Hogan Project
Bondi holds the rights to uranium-only mineralisation in an area of interest within Newcrest Operations Limited’s Mount Hogan EPM. Exploration and limited drilling by CRA in the late 1970’s led to the discovery of a number of high grade surface occurrences which produced drill values of up to 7 metres at 0.38% U3O8. The best intersection os open along strike and down dip, and is part of a prospective contact zone of greater than 5km strike length.
North Maureen Project
The North Maureen Project in Queensland is a large 3,300km2 package of tenements immediately to the north of the Maureen deposit of Mega Uranium Ltd which contains a significant historical resource of U3O8 at favourable grades of uranium and molybdenum. The tenement package contains 18 untested targets under thin cover which show similar characteristics to the Maureen deposit.
