Alinta Energy is an Australian energy company with interests in ten power station assets which are diversified by geographic region, fuel type, customers and operating mode. Alinta Energy also provides gas and electricity to retail, commercial and industrial (C&I) and small to medium enterprise (SME) customers in Western Australia and Victoria and employs more than 750 people across Australia and New Zealand.
Bairnsdale
Bairnsdale Power Station is a 94MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) power station located in Victoria's East Gippsland region. The plant operates as a peaking power station dispatching into the National Electricity Market (NEM) and also provides network support services to Singapore Power's electricity distribution network in eastern Victoria under a Network Services Agreement.
Braemar
Braemar Power Station is a 507MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) power station located in southern Queensland. Braemar’s location is close to competing gas supply sources, being adjacent to the Queensland coal seam gas fields and connected to the Cooper Basin via the Ballera to Wallumbilla and Roma to Brisbane pipelines.
Flinders
Flinders Power comprises the 540MW Northern and 240MW Playford coal-fired power stations, and the dedicated Leigh Creek Coalfield assets, which also include the Leigh Creek township and rail infrastructure. The Flinders Portfolio also includes the Osborne Contracts, comprising a gas supply and base load power generation position of up to 180MW in the South Australian Market.
Glenbrook
Glenbrook Power Station is a 112MW co-generation plant located at Glenbrook, south of Auckland in NZ. The power station is fully integrated into the New Zealand Steel plant and currently supplies around 60% of its electricity requirements.
Newman
Newman Power Station is a 105MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) power station located adjacent to the Newman mining township in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The plant currently provides 100% of the power requirement of the isolated grid which supplies electricity to the Mt Newman Joint Venture. The Joint Venture is the sole customer of the power station under power purchase agreements that run until 2014.
Pinjarra
The Pinjarra Power Station comprises two co-generation plants situated at Alcoa's refinery in south-west WA. Under an agreement between Alcoa and Alinta Energy, Alinta Energy owns the co-generation units and takes all of the electricity production for sale to its customers, while Alcoa operates the units and takes the steam produced by the facilities for use in its refinery.
Port Hedland
Port Hedland Power Station (Port Hedland) is a 175MW gas-fired power station located in the Pilbara region of north-west Western Australia. It is connected to the North West Interconnected System electricity grid (NWIS), with revenue underpinned by three power purchase agreements that run until 2014.
Wagerup
The 380MW Wagerup Power Station comprises two co-generation plants situated at Alcoa's Wagerup refinery in south-west WA. Under an agreement between Alcoa and Alinta Energy, Alinta Energy owns the co-generation units and takes all of the electricity production for sale to its customers, while Alcoa operates the units and takes the steam produced by the facilities for use in its refinery.
Goldfields Gas Pipeline
Alinta Energy's portfolio includes a 11.8% interest in the Goldfields Gas Pipeline, a 1,300km gas transmission pipeline in WA. The GGP is connected to the Newman Power Station (100% owned by AE) by a 50km lateral constructed in 1996.
