Main Forum•Be rewarded with Reward (RWD) -leafy green vegetables for China
-
For those wanting exposure to China's appetite for green food Reward ASX: RWD offers an interesting entry point. Reward an ASX listed micro-cap has a couple of very large potash resources that have the SOP form of potash fertilizer. SOP is what farmers need to grow leafy green vegetables the ones that China cooks so well in stir fries.
The much more common MOP Muriate of potash (KCL) is mainly used for broadacre crops (wheat, corn etc) while K2So4 Sulphate of Potash (SOP) is used for green leafy vegetables including broccoli, lettuce etc. SOP sells at almost double the price of MOP and MOP has some toxic effects on leafy vegetables because of its contained chloride and so cannot be readily substituted. See table below.
Australia has several other ASX listed companies with Potash resources however RWD is in a great position to supply China in the near future.http://www.australianminesatlas.gov.au/aimr/commodity/potash.html
